Awesome stuff!
I don't understand the first steps though, how did you manage to colorblock without the color gettin "dirty"?
Did you outlined the lineart with some pencil brush?

Each color of lineart is on a different locked layer, so they will never blend together or anything like that.

Sorry probably I didn't explained myself good enough.

I was actually asking about if you edit the photo before actually colorblocking, the outline looks really dark compared to the picture.

I know you don't respond to all your comments (can't say I blame ya - you get quite a few lol!), but I just wanted to thank you for making a tutorial for a shading style I've always been wondering how to achieve for years. Thank you so much!!

This is glorious. Usually I just vector all my drawings but I'm trying to experiment with just doing the lines/strokes in Illustrator and doing all the coloring and shading in Photoshop.

Noob-ish question: you using a mouse or a tablet?

For this style, very good Tutorial i have to admitt, though i prefer a different style in drawing ponies/or other objects, means not more than 1 Layer per object^^ it's much more difficult but with enough training it looks quite vivid. still, this is very good and deserves a fav =)
